La Gaillarde

Half-way up a tiny lane, is this lovely old house. Quiet, spacious rooms restored in traditional French village style. Secret walled garden with a table and chairs under a tall shady tree.

La Gaillarde has two double bedrooms, each with large bathroom/or shower-room and dressing room. Very good for two or four people. The bedrooms have , respectively, one double bed and two single beds.

What makes La Gaillarde such fun is its sense of privacy, space and light. It’s a home not merely a house. It is painted in limewashes, in  blues, sepias, pinks and  hung with old pictures and prints of the region. There is a feeling of being in the heart of medieval Caunes, part of the village yet private. Around the corner is the bakery, village grocer, and the delightful restaurant of the Hotel  d’Alibert with its Renaissance courtyard.
